Ryan Chun is a pianist graduated from Cleveland Institute of Music with a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance where he studied with Daniel Shapiro. With nearly two decades of experience at the piano, he continues to grow as a solo performer while exploring a wide range of repertoire. Ryan has received recognition in several national and international competitions. He was the First Prize Winner of the Katheryn Gawartin Chopin Competition, a semi-finalist at the Kaufman Music Center International Piano Competition, and earned First Prize at the Steinway Piano Competition in Beverly Hills.

Other awards include top placements at the Aloha International Piano Competition, the Diamond Bar Piano Competition, and distinctions in events such as the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, Southwestern Youth Music Festival, and the CAPMT Honors and Concerto Competitions. He has also performed at venues like Zipper Hall in Los Angeles.

Deeply drawn to the music of Frédéric Chopin, Ryan has built an extensive Chopin repertoire and considers his works central to his musical identity. At CIM, Ryan is also active in chamber music and has gained meaningful experience collaborating with other musicians in both rehearsals and performances. He has taken part in master classes with artists such as Hershey Felder, Jon Nakamatsu, Gila Goldstein, Veda Kaplinsky, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Alessio Bax, Ory Shihor, and Fabio Bidini. His festival experience includes the Colburn Piano Festival and the Aloha Piano Festival.
